Why Your Next Trip Should Be to Bali

Nusa Penida - Taken by Tyler Correll

If you're like me, you're in your early 20's, you've recently graduated college, you're working full-time, and most importantly, you have the travel bug REALLY BADLY. I don't know about you, but unfortunately in this time of my life I have a surplus of #wanderlust but a lack of funds. Even if you're nothing like me and the only thing we share is a love for #travel... you still need to visit Bali and I'll tell you why.

In Bali, you never have to sacrifice fun for a lack of funds

I flew to Bali from the US. Yes my flight was not cheap, around $1,100 USD, but I booked it really late and with the right planning you can get a much cheaper flight. Regardless of the flight $ amount, it will most likely be the most expensive part of the trip. I visited #Bali for a month and only spent $1,300 USD total... and that was with me trying to ball out and spend the majority of my $6,000 USD budget. In hindsight I definitely over-budgeted.

When you arrive to Bali, be prepared to live out the queen/king dreams you've had laying dormant inside of you. You will be able to live the travel life you scrolled through on #Instagram while you were working 9-5 in your cubicle. All the while not spending all your money to do so!

Bali is where food bloggers take their best pictures as well as those Instagram models we hate to love and love to hate

Let's talk about why I only spent 22% of my projected $6k budget. It's because everything is SO DARN CHEAP. You are eating delicious meals for around$3-4 USD each and if you venture to eating the 5 star, insta-worthy food, it will usually cost you no more than $10. Beers are around maybe $2 each. And the most I paid to stay per night was $20. And that was to stay in a super nice villa. No lie I actually saw a food blogger stand on a table to take pictures of her meal. Whatever you gotta do girl. Every dish I had, even the $1-2 meals, impressed me in aesthetics and deliciousness.

Never did I think I would have the best Italian food I've ever had... in Bali. Some honorable restaurant mentions: La Baracca Bali, any of the Warungs in Uluwatu, Veruna Warung, Canteen Cafe, Little Flinders Cafe (Truffle Eggs Benny is to die for), Betelnut Cafe, Crate Cafe, Lemongrass, Sea Breeze.

Let's say you decide to travel somewhere else such as the Bahamas. The flight there may be cheaper, depending on where you're flying from, but every thing else you buy is marked up a ton. Thus, most times, these trips will end up being way more expensive. For example, I took a week trip to Costa Rica and spent more than I did in a month in Bali.

For me, it's an easy decision. Bali is what dreams are made of for anyone on a budget. It's beautiful, cheap, delicious, and has an amazing culture. For all these reasons, I'm in. No really, I'm booking a trip to go back there this October.
